Excel can open add-ins automatically. Unfortunately you may experience problems if the add-ins you want to open automatically don't have distinct names.
If you have installed more than one version of UltraSleuth, Excel might open the wrong one (since all versions have the same name). To fix this problem you will have to update Excel's auto-open list.
Unfortunately it's a little tricky to update the auto-open list in instances like this. But there are two methods that you can use:
Method 1
The easiest approach is to use the (Un)Loader spreadsheet. To open this spreadsheet go to the Start Menu, select UltraSleuth from the All Programs or Programs folder and then select the (Un)load UltraSleuth shortcut. When the dialog box opens, click on the Load radio button and click OK. Follow the on screen instructions to update the auto-open list.
Method 2
If you want to update the auto-open list yourself, follow these steps:
- Select Tools then "Add-Ins..." from Excel's main menu.
- In the Add-Ins dialog box, uncheck UltraSleuth and click on the OK button.
- Close Excel.
- Re-open Excel.
- Select Tools then "Add-Ins..." from Excel's main menu.
- In the Add-Ins dialog box, click on the Browse button. Locate the version of UltraSleuth.xll that you want to open automatically and click OK.
- Close the Add-Ins dialog box by clicking on the OK button.
