Understanding CopyFinder's results

CopyFinder uses a mixture of colors and formatting styles to differentiate between root formulas, copied formulas and other formulas. The CopyFinder Dialog Box lets you select the colors that are used.

Cells containing root formulas (i.e. formulas from which other formulas are copied) are shaded with a solid color.

If a cell contains a copied formula then one or more of its borders will be colored. If the right border is colored the formula has been copied down from another formula in the same column. If the bottom border is colored the formula has been copied across from another formula in the same row. (Note that it is possible for both borders to be colored in some cells.)

CopyFinder ignores data between formulas when looking for copied formulas. A formula is assumed to be copied from another identical formula if the two are separated by blank cells and cells containing values (text, numbers, dates etc).

Cells that contain other formulas (i.e. formulas that are neither root formulas nor copied formulas) are also shaded with solid colors. We suggest that you choose a color which makes it easy to distinguish these formulas from root formulas.
