More Wednesday is on the horizon—and season two will include a new member of the Addams Family.

In a video released as part of Netflix’s June 2023 Tudum fan event, series star Jenna Ortega and costars Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, and Joy Sunday responded to fans’ theories about the forthcoming season two.

Netflix confirmed in January that a second season of the hit Tim Burton–helmed series is on the way. The streaming platform shared the news with a highlight reel of clips from season one, captioned “More torture is coming. Lucky you.” Here’s everything we know so far.

Season two will introduce a new member of the Addams Family.

While plot details from season two of Wednesday are under such a tight wrap that even the actors don’t know what will happen yet, they were able to confirm in the Tudum video that the second season will introduce an as-yet unseen member of the Addams Family.

Doohan was quick to clarify that the stars “don’t know who” will be joining them. Ortega put in a vote for Cousin Itt, while Doohan and Sunday agreed that Grandmama could be a good choice.

Other theories mentioned were that the shapeshifting Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) is still alive (and, specifically, disguising herself as Lurch), that another character may have picked up season-one villain Crackstone’s ring and inherited his powers, and that Wednesday may now be in control of the Hyde’s powers.

Who will be cast in season two?

Netflix has not made an official announcement about the cast for season two, but given their appearance in this latest video announcement, it seems safe to say Doohan, Myers, and Sunday will return, along with Ortega. It’s also likely the rest of core cast will return, including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday’s mother, Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as father Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as brother Pugsley Addams, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin, and Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe.

What will season two of Wednesday be about?

The show’s creators have promised there are plenty of compelling storylines for the series to explore. Co-showrunner Millar told TVLine in November 2022, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

When would season two hit Netflix?

Based on the show’s hefty production schedule for season one (it took about a year to go from filming to streaming), as well as star Ortega being such an in-demand talent with other projects to juggle, our best guess is that Wednesday will return sometime in 2024.

Season two was quickly confirmed.

The first season of Wednesday—which broke massive Netflix streaming records upon its release over Thanksgiving weekend 2022, per Deadline—follows the titular-fan favorite Addams Family daughter, played by Jenna Ortega, as she navigates life as a student at the fictional Nevermore Academy and manages her emerging psychic abilities, aiming to solve the mysterious murders happening on campus. Along with Zeta-Jones and Christie, season one also starred Christina Ricci, who portrayed Wednesday in the 1990s in the Addams Family films.

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two,” executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said just a few weeks after the first season’s release, in January 2023. “We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

In November 2022, Ortega posted a black-and-white photo from the Wednesday premiere on Instgram—it showed her posing alongside Christie, Ricci, and Zeta-Jones—and thanked fans for their overwhelming support for the series.

“Don’t even know if there’s right words,” the actress wrote in the caption. “Thanks everyone for watching.”
