Halle Berry always finds time to prioritize her fitness routine, even in the middle of a pandemic. The actress opened up to People about how she’s had to adjust her routine over the past several months, and she admits that it hasn’t been easy.

“I think during COVID, it’s been easy to forget the time in our day to be active because we just can’t do the things that we used to do and it’s hard to find ways to do that at home,” Berry said. But she’s made it her “mission to find time in the day to exercise, get work done, and be a mom.”

To upgrade her home workouts, she’s relied on her own brand of gym equipment to stay in shape. She told People that her go-to gear includes re-spin’s weighted jump rope, yoga wheel, and full-body resistance loop. The weighted jump rope is great for heart-pumping cardio (plus the weights are removable), while the yoga wheel comes in handy for mobility work. The resistance loop offers seven levels for strengthening and toning.

Berry’s trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, previously told Prevention.com that the actress trains like an MMA fighter, focusing on martial arts and boxing, as well as strength and conditioning drills. She’s also a big fan of yoga to improve flexibility and coordination. Bottom line: She goes hard in the gym.

Berry told People that her “most important agenda” is “being well and physically fit and healthy,” although she admitted that maintaining wellness as a priority “has taken on a new meaning as I’ve become a mom in my 40s.”

“I have to work at it every day,” she said. “I have to think about what I put in my body via food, how I exercise, and all the ways I can work hard that will allow me to be here through as many phases of the lives of my children as I can.”

As for her mental health? The actress writes in her A Journal on Joy, which she said helps people cultivate happiness in their lives by “guiding you through setting intentions, finding affirmations, and manifesting your life.”

Overall, mixing it up has been a huge secret to her success so far. “Discovering new, creative ways to stay active to feel inspired and energized while also making it fun when things feel mundane and monotonous has been key for my mental and physical health.”
