While we're still swooning over the sheer yet sculptural Versace gown Lady Gaga wore to the 2023 Oscars ceremony, her ultra-glamorous makeup look was the true awards show showstopper. The star channeled three of this year's top makeup trends in one, including a glam smoky eye, subtle blush draping on the high points of her cheeks, and a statement red lip that served as one of the only pops of color in an otherwise monochromatic look.

A slicked-back French braid, crafted by celebrity hairstylist Frederic Aspiras on behalf of Joico, made it easy for Gaga's captivating makeup look to really shine through. Her bold eye and lip pairing, perfected by artist Sarah Tanno, falls right in line with the beauty styles you'll likely find all over TikTok and Instagram in months to come, and is actually a departure from Gaga's typical red carpet makeup looks. The star previously told BAZAAR.com that she usually wears brighter, more classic makeup. "Something else I always do on the red carpet is wear white liner in my waterline—it's a trick to make the eyes look bigger," she says.

Tanno and Gaga exclusively used Haus Labs by Lady Gaga products to create her latest, retro-inspired Academy Awards look. The pair reference the style as "Addicted to Blush," since it's inspired by the high-impact makeup models wore in singer Robert Palmer's 1986 music video, "Addicted to Love."

"When we were discussing the Oscars, [Gaga and I] were inspired by the new Haus Labs Color Fuse Blush, and wanted to create a look around it. The "Addicted to Love" video by Robert Palmer had the most major makeup, and we thought it was the perfect '80s vibe for the red carpet," Tanno tells BAZAAR.com. "Don’t be afraid of more as more: color is back. Blush is really in right now, and it honestly inspired the whole look. I love using the technique of layering to blushes—one on the high points of the cheeks, and another brighter or deeper shade to contour the cheekbone."

Gaga may walk away with another Oscar win this year, as her track "Hold My Hand," from the film, Top Gun: Maverick, is nominated for Best Original Song. Even if the film doesn't win in this category at the 2023 Oscars, as it's up against other strong contenders, like Rihanna for the song, "Lift Me Up," from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Gaga's captivating beauty look still deserves top honors.
