Pedro Pascal is everywhere right now—HBO's The Last of Us, Disney's The Mandalorian, your TikTok FYP, and the 2023 Oscars, where he was a presenter for the very first time. He wore a Zegna look on the red carpet, and was accompanied by his sister, Javiera Balmaceda, who played music by Prince while they got ready for the big show. We caught up with Pascal's go-to hairstylist and groomer Coco Ullrich-Mooney, who used Bumble and Bumble and La Mer, to get the exclusive scoop on every product used to get Pascal's look from tonight's Academy Awards.

What’s the best part of working with Pedro?

Pedro really is the most fun to work with. He is very creative and always wants to collaborate on looks which I love, it really makes my job rewarding. Pedro also always makes sure I’m taken care of. It’s honestly true what everyone says about him. He’s the absolute best.

What were the key products used to get this look and what makes them so great?

I first applied the Bb.Thickening Full Form Soft Mousse to get sculpted, but still soft, curls and diffuse. Then I applied a concoction of half Semisumo and half Sumotech to define curls. I went in after that with more Sumotech to add some texture to the curls in the front with a little shine. To finish it off, I set the look with Does It All hairspray.

On his skin, I applied a pea size amount of La Mer The Concentrate to the skin and The Eye Concentrate to the under eye area. I then went in with the La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream all over his face. The products allowed for an easy application with great results.

What did you and Pedro discuss as the goals for his hair look today?

To use natural texture and make it a more polished, cleaner version.

You obviously do glam hours before the red carpet and showtime. How do you make sure the hair look stays looking perfect that whole time? Do you send any products with him?

He holds up really well and is always aware of not touching his face and hair. When we worked together on The Last of Us, he was extremely respectful of the hair work I did as well as the work of our makeup department head, Connie Parker. He’s a professional and real deal.

His hair has some natural curly texture to it. What are your best tips for working with that texture?

Depending on length we will do different things. When it’s shorter we let it air dry before adding any product. That way we get his natural texture and then we can manipulate to our liking with products if needed.

When we worked together on the film Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent it was much longer. My secret weapon was Bb.Thickening Mousse. I’d apply to damp hair and then use my Dyson diffuser to enhance his natural curls.

What La Mer products did you use today and why are they great for a red carpet?

I used La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream, The Eye Concentrate, and The Concentrate. They always make your skin look amazingly hydrated. Typically you don’t need to do that much if you’re practicing a good daily skin care regiment.

What advice do you have for other men Pedro’s age around skin prep?

The best advice I would give is always wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the shower. Apply moisturizer after brushing your teeth am and pm along with a daily SPF. If you can do those three things it will go a long way no matter what age.
