Florence Pugh had two firsts in one night: Her Met Gala debut and a freshly-shaved head.

The Don’t Worry Darling actress arrived at the 2023 Met Gala with a new buzzed hair look that made quite the statement. Pugh teased her Met Gala look to the New York Times last week, saying, “It’s big, but we like big, don’t we?” And she did, in fact, deliver on her promise.

Accompanied by Valentino creative director Pier Paolo Piccioli, the newly appointed ambassador for the brand donned a towering headpiece with black feathers atop her shaved head. For her main ensemble, she wore a white ball gown with a plunging neckline that featured a black tulle bow, plus Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

Pugh’s shaved head doesn’t come as a surprise as fans speculated the star made a major hair transformation when she arrived to the grand-reopening of Tiffany & Co.'s flagship store last Thursday in New York City with a bouncy, short wig with bangs. Quickly after her blue carpet appearance, rumors swirled about her possible buzz cut.

Tonight on the Met Gala red carpet, Pugh revealed that the fresh cut is for her upcoming role in We Live In a Time, which she stars alongside Andrew Garfield. “It was required for the job that I happily wanted to do, and I thought what is a better way to release it to the world than at the Met here with Pier Paolo,” she explains. “I’ve been keeping it under wraps for about three weeks now.”
